Fresh air & the great outdoors
Conical Hill Walk
Stretch the families legs with this 30 minute walk up a gentle zig-zag track to the lookout at the top, offering amazing panoramic views over the village. If you have a little Bear Grylls in you, you can walk and climb straight up the track (rather than the zig zag!). Be careful, the track can get slippery in winter.
The great outdoors
Waterfall Track
This winding and moderately steep trail begins at the top of McIntyre Road (accessed off Jollies Pass Road) and heads up the stream edge through dense native forest. The reward at the top is one to remember! 2 & 1/2 hours return.

Pedal Pops
One of the best ways to explore Hanmer Springs Village is by cruising on handcrafted quadricycles from Hanmer Springs Village Pedal Pops. The kids will love it!
These world class quadricycles offer fun and enjoyment for all ages.
Available for hire at Hanmer Adventure Centre, 20 Conical Hill Road.
For animal lovers of all ages
Hanmer Springs Animal Park
Hanmer Springs Animal Park is a must see for animal lovers young and old. Set on six hectares, just 10 minutes from the centre of the village.
It’s a purpose-built farm park where you can hand feed a range of farm and exotic animals including sheep and lambs, goats, pigs, ponies, donkeys, llamas and alpacas, cows, a Texas longhorn, ostrich, emu, wallaby, water buffalo and deer and wallabies.
There’s also ducks, geese, chickens, guinea pigs, chinchillas and giant Flemish rabbits.
With trampolines and outdoor picnic tables, tea, coffee, light lunch and snacks it’s the perfect place to spend the day.
Don’t forget to say hi to Winston and Jacinda while you’re there.
Mountainbiking in Hanmer Springs
Mountain Biking
Hanmer Springs is now synonymous with fantastic single-track mountain bike riding! The tracks accommodate the novice rider with flat rides through the Heritage Forest, as well as more advanced riding north of Jollies Pass Road. For the more adventurous, explore the expansive back-country roads and trails in the St James Conservation Area and the infamous Jacks Jollies Loop.

Forest Amble Walk
Looking for a way to burn off some of the kids energy – the Forest Amble walk is perfect. A short 30 minute return walk through the stunning Hanmer Heritage Forest. You’ll have no problem enticing the kids to walk as they search the trail for some very special creatures. The popular wooden sculptures are larger than life – see how many you can find – fantails, mushrooms, a falcon, beavers, a lizard, and even a giant.
The track starts at 100 Jollies Pass Road, and is well signposted.

Explore the magical Fairy Doors in the Hanmer forest
Fairy Doors
Another short walk guaranteed to entertain the kids is the Fairy Door walk along the Lower Dog Stream Track. Gorgeous painted fairy doors, as well as painted rocks and trinkets along the way.
Just 30 minutes return, its suitable for off road prams.
Family Fun
Mini Golf
Challenge the family to a fun game of mini golf – we have two courses to choose from.
As you head into Hanmer Springs – A-Maze-N-Golf is on the main road on your right. Take yourself back in time on the 18 hole Gold Rush themed course. You can also solve the mystery of the Lost Temple maze while you are there. Plenty of surprises to be found.
Just up the road past the Heritage Hotel, you’ll find Alpine Crazy Putt. It has a variety of fun and challenging holes with an historic Canterbury theme. Holes are named and modelled on distinctive local features like the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools. Once you’re finished check out the Village Cruisers. A unique peddling experience – choose your cruiser size to suit 2-6 people, sit back on your padded seat and explore the beautiful Hanmer Springs Village. They come with an infant seat with seat belts so the whole family can enjoy the fun.
