The 2026 MainPower NZ Alpine Winter Festival has once again proven why Hanmer Springs is one of New Zealand’s premier winter destinations, delivering two weeks of memorable experiences that attracted visitors from around the country and transformed the village into a vibrant alpine playground. Running from 4 to 18 July, the festival featured a diverse programme of family-friendly activities, including the return of the popular ice skating rink, light displays, pond hockey, fairy light walks, entertainment, adventure activities and dozens of community events that encouraged visitors to explore every corner of the village.
