Dawn Parade



  • Armed forces, RSA, Fire Brigade, Police, St Johns (March party) meet Queen Mary Hospital gates
  • Band plays while general public collect around Cenotaph.

 National Anthem is played (Hanmer Springs Choir and public sing)

 Local RSA Cenotaph party lays wreath in silence

The Ode is read by a member of the Armed Forces

Minister invites the Armed Forces to lay the wreath and for the  other wreath layers to assemble in front of the cenotaph.

Police, Fire Brigade, St John, Community Board, HSTPS, Scouts are invited to go up and lay their wreaths/poppies on the Cenotaph while music is played.

Members of the public may then lay wreaths/poppies

Parade Marshall instructs March party to fall out and walk to hall

General Public move to Hall

Once everyone has gathered at the Hall

(the flag has been broken by flag orderly at 6.15am)

Fire brigade stand at order

Armed Forces are called to order by Parade Marshal

Hanmer Springs Choir sings

Speaker recites reading

Parade Marshall calls parade to attention

 THE LAST POST is played

During this, the flag is slowly brought down to half mast

A minute’s silence is held

REVEILLE is played

The flag is raised

 Parade Marshal dismisses the parade


Everyone goes inside the hall where tea, coffee, and sammies are served
