Maintenance Team Member

Situated in the alpine village of Hanmer Springs, just 90 minutes north of Christchurch, the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa is an award winning visitor experience catering to in excess of 520,000 customers per year.

Our maintenance teams primary responsibility is ensuring an extremely high standard of water quality but also encompasses the general maintenance of buildings and equipment, general gardens and grounds maintenance and ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is adhered to across our complex.

This is a diverse role, requiring hands-on skills and the practicality to work safely and independently on tasks that span from routine maintenance to supporting in the completion of special projects such as installing new and exciting recreational facilities. Our team also excel in the use of technology to enhance our facilities so an understanding/interest in technology would be an advantage. Monitoring of our pool water quality is an essential element of the role and you must be prepared to undertake formal training in this aspect of the role.

Working within the Operations team the applicant will need to show good teamwork skills and be a self motivated problem solver. This role requires an active, physically fit person with a roll-up-your-sleeve and get stuck in attitude.

This is a full time position which includes working one day of the weekend and public holidays.

Cafe Front of House Team Member

We have a full time permanent position available in our busy and vibrant café for a well presented, highly motivated and exceptionally customer service focused person to join our small friendly team.

You must have the ability to multi task and be self motivated as at times you will be working independently. Previous cash handling experience and preferably barista experience would be an advantage however full training will be provided.

Our Café is a diverse environment and not only caters to pool customers but also to special functions and events so a range of serving styles is required.

Full training will be given but you will need:
- A welcoming smile
- Be friendly and approachable
- Be well presented
- And be willing to pitch in and give everything a go

Play Soak

Our cleaning team has an opportunity for an experienced commercial cleaner to join our team.


You must be reliable, physically fit and healthy and be able to work both within a team and also independently.

Duties will be varied and will include cleaning of our customer changing facilities and bathrooms. There may also be office, reception and cafe commercial cleaning requirements.

Previous cleaning experience would be an advantage as you must maintain a high level of cleaning standards and deliver services which exceed customer expectations. You must have an excellent eye for detail!

Weekly hours will be 20-25 hours per week and are to be worked outside our normal operating hours. Flexibility can be given to evening or morning cleaning with evening work currently starting from 9.30pm or morning work being conducted prior to 10.00am.

Couple Massage retreat the Spa

Massage/Spa Therapist

Located within the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa, The Spa at Hanmer Springs is an award winning Spa committed to providing a Spa experience and level of commitment to our customers that is second to none.

We are looking for professional, dedicated and fully qualified Therapists who are competent in a range of massage modalities including but not limited to relaxation massage, sports, deep tissue and remedial and pregnancy massage. In addition to massage we encourage our Therapists to be multi skilled and will provide training in a number of body and facial treatments including:

- Spa Body Treatments including exfoliation and wrap treatments
- Hot Stone Therapies
- Vichy Massage
- Basic Facial Treatments

Ideally you will have a minimum of two years experience working within a Spa environment and hold relevant Massage qualifications. You must be totally committed to our customers and team have a friendly personality and have excellent communications skills.

Retail/Information Consultant

Set within the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa, the Hurunui iSite Information Centre provides visitors to Hanmer Springs with an information and booking service as well as a unique retail offering.

We are looking for a Retail/Information Consultant to join our fantastic team in offering our visitors an outstanding level of service and sales support.

The position is part-time, with 16 hours rostered per week on Fridays and Saturdays with additional casual hours available from time to time.

The role requires someone with exceptional customer service and sales skills. Customer interaction will include face-to-face, telephone and email enquiries so your communication skills must be exceptional. The role also requires basic computer skills in using point of sale systems and Microsoft office.

This is a diverse role encompassing both retail and information support for our customers. As an iSite we provide information on local attractions, facilities and landmarks. Good general knowledge of Hanmer Springs and surrounding areas would be advantageous.

Our shop offers a diverse retail offering therefore you must possess an eye for detail and be able to present clothing, giftware, souvenirs and brochures in a manner that is appealing and promotes high volume of sales.

Lifeguard Team Leader/Supervisor

Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa is an award winning visitor attraction which offers its customers a wide range of experiences designed to relax and pamper or delight and excite our guests. People are the heart of our business and that includes our customers and our team.

As a Team Leader/Supervisor you will play a crucial role in supporting and leading our Lifeguard team to ensure that we are all offering outstanding first class customer service as well as health, safety and supervision for our valued customers.

You will lead by example on poolside during shifts with a calm and helpful attitude. The ability to be pro-active in regards to managing and minimising risk is required as is the ability to trouble-shoot any issues that may arise.

Working closely with our Manager - Pool Operations & Customer Service you will be part of a team that works through processes and policies and will have ideas and input which we encourage into the smooth running of the Lifeguard team.

Spa Receptionist

A rare opportunity has become available for a professional, friendly and extremely well presented person to join our team as a Spa Receptionist.

This is an enjoyable and diverse role which is suited to someone with outstanding communication and organisational skills who commits to going out of their way to ensure a high level of customer service.

The main functions of the role is the meeting and greeting of customers and to make reservations through our computerised system. You need to be highly organised and have the ability to manage multiple bookings whilst ensuring optimum levels of occupancy. You must be able to think on your feet, be able to adapt to changing circumstances and make sound decisions. You will not only be a great communicator with our guests but also with our team of Therapists who rely on you to ensure our bookings and day runs smoothly.

You will show accuracy in daily collection and balancing of takings and have a knowledge of general administration duties and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

A high level of sales skills is required as this encompasses not only sales of treatments to our customers but also the recommendation of gift, skin and body care products. The display of retail products for customer purchase will be your responsibility therefore an eye for detail and product placement to promote maximum sales is required. You must show a high level of pride in your surroundings as you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and presentation of all public areas including reception and retail areas and relaxation and changing rooms for customer use.
